Perry whipping Texas delegation (Politico)

As more elected Republicans begin to take sides, Rick Perry is moving to present a show of force from his home state's GOP congressional delegation.

Chiefs of staff to Texas Republicans on the Hill got an email yesterday from a pro-Perry office asking about the status of their members.

According to two chiefs who got the message, it was a soft ask - a pulse-taking and offer to answer questions. In fact, it even emphasized that there was no pressure intended.

Perry has a fragile relationship with many members of the delegation owing to their support for Kay Bailey Hutchison in last year's primary, so the idea is to avoid train-leaving-the-station browbeating.

But the nudge is unmistakable and comes amid establishment fretting over Perry's general election prospects. Hoping to push back against the notion that Mitt Romney can consolidate party regulars Perry has rolled out endorsements from two high-profile GOP governors in the last two days, Louisiana's Bobby Jindal and Nevada's Brian Sandoval.
