Baby boomer fitness: Walk the ChiWalking talk for health | Mind Your ...

Mind Your Body TV Episode 43 with Serena Scott Thomas.

Walking. We have to do it and millions of us also do it for health and recreation.

No wonder walking is such a popular daily exercise?it?s got a lot to like, especially when we take it to a ?new level? with ChiWalking from Danny and Katherine Dreyer.

We?re ?not just walking? here. In this week?s Mind Your Body TV video, you?ll combine truly healthy walking with elements of the ancient and graceful exercise, T?ai Chi, to increase your physical, mental, and spiritual fitness. What a package!

How to ?aChieve? ChiWalking

Serena Scott Thomas shows us how ChiWalking is REALLY done on location at UCLA.

The Dreyers and their fans promise that the five mindful steps of the ChiWalking program will get anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, into great shape from head to toe, inside and out. It?s worth a try if you?re looking for something new and different to do outside in nature.

You?ll use these five steps, as certified instructor Serena Scott Thomas demonstrates in our video:

1. Get aligned: Develop great posture and better balance.

2. Engage your core: Make back and knee pain disappear.

3. Create balance: Walk faster, farther, and with less effort.

4. Make a choice: Choose from a menu of 12 great ChiWalks like the Cardio Walk, the Energizing Walk, or the Walking Meditation, to keep your exercise program fresh.

5. Move forward: Make walking any distance a mindful, enjoyable experience, whether you?re a beginner or a seasoned walker.

Chi for thee?

You?ll walk with a mindful, centered approach, paying attention to how you?re doing ChiWalking. The Dreyers say you?ll be able to walk faster and farther with less effort. You?ll slim down and get stronger and more centered with every workout. ChiWalking, they say, is easier on your body and helps improve and eliminate the aches, pains and discomfort of walking incorrectly. You?ll overcome poor movement habits that can lead to long-term injury, such as knee or hip problems.

Let?s hit the road, shall we? Happy ChiWalking: ChiRunning is coming here soon!
