Kansas junior forward Thomas Robinson will announce whether he will enter the NBA draft at a news conference Monday, coach Bill Self told the Kansas City Star on Sunday.
If previous indications remain, the unanimous AP All-American will enter the NBA Draft, as Self stated all season long, the Star reported.
Robinson averaged 17.7 points and 11.9 rebounds in leading the Jayhawks to the national championship game against Kentucky. he is projected as a top 10 pick. The Star reported that after Robinson had 18 points and 17 boards in the title-game loss last Monday, Self and other players acted as if Robinson's departure was a foregone conclusion.
"I would be stupid to just think in my head, 'Hey, Thomas will be back next year,' " junior guard Elijah Johnson told the Star. "I've been facing reality. That's my roommate. I've been feeling like he's about to leave. I've been feeling like it's about to end."
Robinson has only until Tuesday to declare for the draft -- without hiring an agent -- and withdraw his name to retain eligibility. With his projected lottery-pick status, that appears unlikely.
