60 Minutes Icon Mike Wallace Dies
Legendary 60 Minutes newsman Mike Wallace has died at the age of 93. He was an icon on the infamous CBS show for decades; some even called him the star of the show. The news world lost one of its greats this weekend. Mike Wallace passed away on April 7th at an assisted living home in New Canaan, Connecticut. Although he had a history of heart ailments, including a triple bypass operation in 2008, it is being reported that he passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loved ones. Wallace had lived at the Waveny Care Center for the past couple of years. Growing up watching 60 minutes and Mike Wallace was a Sunday night must for my family. Although I didn?t appreciate Wallace?s unique style of interviewing until I was older he and his style always intrigued me. I mean they didn?t call him one of the most skilled interviewers of the powerful for nothing. Not only did he go toe to toe with everyone from world leaders, to Hollywood celebrities to numerous controversial newsmakers but he did it with surprise and sometimes ambush.
