South Dakota governor looks to lure California businesses

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) ? South Dakota's governor is planning a recruiting trip in southern California.

Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard has scheduled meetings in San Diego County on Dec. 9 with up to 60 business executives, following the Western Governors' Association conference in Palm Springs.

Daugaard says he will emphasize South Dakota's favorable tax climate. His state does not have corporate, death or personal income taxes.

One of the gatherings is scheduled at PureForge, a startup company that specializes in motor vehicle brake systems. The North County Times reports (http://bit.ly/vpWGfs) that PureForge is looking to move to the Rapid City area in 2012.
